Treatment of Shoulder Pain at Motion Physical Therapy in The Woodlands, TX
In our physical therapy office, one of the most common physical complaints we discuss with our patients is shoulder pain. The shoulder is comprised of several joints, large and small muscles, tendons and ligaments. It is a complex joint that allows our arms to have a very wide range of motion. Due to the variety of structures and range of motion the shoulder is also vulnerable to injury.
Much of the shoulder pain we evaluate is caused by issues that involve the rotator cuff. The rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons that hold the bones of the shoulder together and provide us with the ability to rotate our arms and to reach over head. Pain in this area can be a result of injuries from falls or certain forceful movements. This type of pain is frequently experienced by athletes who perform activities with overhead movements such as swimming, weight lifting, throwing sports and tennis. It is also common in individuals who perform repetitive overhead activities such as painting, wall paper hanging, construction work, and even gardening.
Some of the common shoulder problems we treat at Motion Physical Therapy include:
- Rotator cuff tendinitis
- Shoulder bursitis
- Adhesive capsulitis (the “frozen shoulder”)
- Rotator cuff impingement
- Acromioclavicular joint strain
- Thoracic outlet syndrome
- Shoulder instability
We also treat the post-surgical conditions of rotator cuff repair, labral repair, total shoulder replacement and reverse total shoulder replacement.
If you are facing any of these problems, we can help you! You will receive a thorough assessment from a highly trained, experienced physical therapist who will design an individualized treatment program to reduce and eliminate your pain, and restore you to your normal level of movement, strength and function. Your plan will be tailored to your specific impairment and long term goals. We focus on treating and correcting the cause of your pain, rather than just treating the symptoms. We offer a wide variety of treatment options such as:
